  Volunteer Now!

Our Girl Scout volunteers have come to a special organization—one that changes the lives of girls across the nation and throughout the world. They contribute thousands of service hours each year, and we recognize and appreciate the excellent work that they are doing at every level. We want to do all we can to keep our volunteers for a long time and to encourage adults who are seeking philanthropic opportunities to serve girls to join our organization. To achieve these goals, we begin with a clear understanding of volunteer roles and expectations needed today, as they have changed significantly in some instances in the past few years.

Over 96 years ago, the Girl Scouts of the USA made a commitment to helping girls learn about themselves and the world around them. Today, we continue in that tradition by honoring our mission "to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place." Therefore, our Girl Scout volunteers comprise a diverse group of women and men whose expertise, skills, interests, life experience, and availability match the many volunteer opportunities, and who work collectively with other volunteers and staff to nurture each girl's individuality and leadership qualities.

Today's Girl Scout volunteerism may surprise you. We offer several exciting, flexible pathways through which adults can participate in Girl Scouting regionally, nationally, and internationally. Whether you choose to work directly or indirectly with girls on a short-term or long-term basis, you will get all the instruction, guidance, and support that you will need to fulfill the responsibilities of your volunteer role successfully as you guide girls through the New Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

If you would like to become a Girl Scout volunteer but cannot commit to a regular schedule, you can choose a pathway that allows you to fit Girl Scouting into your lifestyle, whether it is once a month, weekends, evenings, or at a particular time of year.

We customarily recognize and celebrate our volunteers and their service; therefore, our volunteers always feel connected and appreciated in the Girl Scout community.

So, won't you join today as a volunteer? Find a Girl Scout council in your community online or call toll-free 1-800-GSUSA 4U (1-800-478-7248) or 1-212-852-8000 for more information. Are you interested in volunteering at an overseas committee? If so, call 1-800-247-8319 or 1-212-852-8618.
