Juliette Gordon Low imagined that Girl Scouts could be "the magic thread" that would connect girls everywhere, and for 59 million women, the ties have never been stronger. We hope that everyone who has ever been a member of the Girl Scout family will join us in Houston this November – or at any of a myriad of events in every American town during 2012 – to be a part of history. And a part of the future.
In 2012, we will mark 100 years of Girl Scouting by setting out to raise $1 billion to achieve, in five years, a generational leap in opportunities for girls. This initiative will ensure that every girl in this generation will have the opportunity and the tools and the access she needs to reach her fullest potential. That is our promise. Together, we can make 2012 the Year of the Girl.
From January to December and from sea to shining sea, the nation's Girl Scout councils will be celebrating a century of Girl Scouting with parades, camporees, concerts, fairs, rallies, and projects that make a difference.
