Community action on a national scale - Girl Scouts Forever Green

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 10–SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 13

Join our expert panels for thought-provoking discussions of the issues facing girls – and Girl Scouting – in a new century. These sessions aren’t lectures; they’re conversations that will continue through our 100th year and beyond.

Girl Scouts Explore the Female Factor—Thursday, November 10, 3–4:30 p.m.
Corporate profitability is linked to women in leadership positions—but a mere 15 percent of Fortune 500 leaders are women. In the political arena, only 17 percent of U.S. senators, representatives, and governors are women. This session will explore what female leadership looks like, the implications of young girls’ aspirations to embrace the tenets of transformational leadership, and what it would mean to increase female leadership and diversity in business, technology, politics, and beyond.

Session structure: Facilitated conversation involving a diverse panel of thought leaders.

Moving Beyond Diversity to Inclusion—Friday, November 11, 1:30–3 p.m.
This conversation, involving subject matter experts in academia and the business world, will address diversity beyond the traditional “gender and ethnicity” model, tackling the impact of style, culture, generational differences, and more. Participants will explore the opportunities for a 100-year-old movement to embrace the benefits of inclusion and capitalize on emergent creativity, innovation, and the new world order of globalization.

Session structure: Facilitated conversation involving enlightened subject matter experts in academia and the business world.

Building a Culture of Philanthropy—Saturday, November 12, 2–3:30 p.m.
Only 7.5 percent of philanthropic funding goes to girls. As an organization with more than 3.5 million girl members, we have the ability and the responsibility to influence investment in programs and institutions that will change girls’ perceptions of their capacity for leadership and achieve workplace parity. This session will focus on how and why we need to make girls a philanthropic priority.

Session structure: Facilitated conversation involving subject matter experts.

What If Girls Ran the World?—Sunday, November 13, 10 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Every day, Girl Scouts are making the world a better place. This session will showcase the leadership potential of girls. Session structure: Conversation (during the general assembly/before the closing ceremonies) led by Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors, who will inspire audience members to discover “the leader within”—bringing our vision and mission to life.
