Ford Motor Company

Girl Scouts and Ford Motor Company are teaming up to bring the excitement of Ford Girls’ Fast Track Races to hundreds of Girl Scout Brownies and Juniors from Girl Scout councils in Northern New Jersey, Tropical Florida, Greater Atlanta, Colorado, Southeastern Michigan, Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana, and Northeast Texas. Through this collaboration, Ford is supporting Girl Scouts’ mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character, by providing girls with an opportunity to lead via the three processes of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience—cooperative learning, learning by doing, and girl-led. Troop leaders and parents can utilize the “Fast Track to Leadership Tip Sheet” to guide girls through the Ford races.

With these races, Ford and Girl Scouts will spark participating girls’ interest in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art/design, and math) concepts such as engineering, design, and aerodynamics—which will ultimately help them successfully build and race wooden racecars. As an innovation-oriented company, Ford understands the need to engage kids in STEAM and has invested in this model of education for more than 30 years. Now, through its Girls’ Fast Track Races, girls can connect and compete at the highest level as their creativity is ignited. And as a result, entire communities benefit—with a brighter future ahead.

In addition to offering guidance to participating girls on their vehicles, Ford Motor Company engineers judge a design competition based on the artistry and creativity seen in girls’ cars. Two design trophies are awarded, as well as trophies, for the fastest cars. All participating Girl Scouts receive a Ford Girls’ Fast Track Races Fun patch.
