Alumnae Story
A Truly Wider Opportunity in Wyoming

In August 1976, I had the great opportunity to go on a Wider Opportunity to National Center West in Wyoming. What a great trip that was. Visiting Yellowstone National Park and traveling six days into the Big Horn Mountains on horseback, with only one change of clothes and dehydrated foods to eat. A vast amount of memories of singing songs (learned "On My Honor"), learning new knots (we had to know how to pack up the pack horses), herding cattle out on the range, and meeting girls from all over the country (and realizing that I called the end piece of a loaf of bread the crust and I was told I said water wrong).

All these things still fill me with joy and wonder. But the greatest thing of all I received from that trip was the knowledge that I could do anything and go anywhere. I am not afraid to explore my world and see how I can change it and how it will change me. I hope to pass that on to my daughter. I always dreamed of someday returning to National Center West but I found out it has been sold. I hope my daughter will be able to go and do more then I ever did.
