This issue of LEADER is packed with memorable articles and helpful hints! One of the most unifying aspects of the Girl Scout culture is the music. A delightful feature, "Sing Along With Us!," traces the role of Girl Scout music and song from the organization's inception. Feel how the power of music binds us together for a lifetime.
"What Makes Girls Feel Safe?" reports on a variety of Girl Scout Research Institute findings about girls and safety. "Inside the Preteen Mind" is based on interviews with 800 girls and boys ages 8 to 12, conducted by RoperASW and commissioned by Unilever with Girl Scout support.
Also featured is an important national project, In the Zone: Living Drug Free. Created by Girl Scouts and The White House Office on National Drug Control Policy, the project emphasizes self-esteem building activities and a focus on healthy, goal-oriented choices.
