

Take Action Learning Conference
This three day learning conference will focus on promising practices in take action since the roll out of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Conference sessions will include topics such as leveraging the highest awards in Girl Scouting, mentoring girls, volunteer development and learning, membership growth strategies, community partnerships, getting the most from journeys, marketing, money-earning and more. Participants will leave the conference with tools and resources to support girls' take action projects, and establish a community of practice among volunteers and staff. For those council staff and volunteers who are not familiar with the Take Action Volunteer Learning Module, we will offer a pre-conference all-day session on April 23, 2012.
Who Should Attend
Council staff or volunteers who are supporting girls in carrying out take action projects through the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
What is the cost and what is the Macy Scholarship
The cost of the conference is $150.
GSUSA offers the Macy Travel Scholarship Plan for volunteers and employed staff from Girl Scout councils to defray part of the travel costs associated with attending professional development events at the Edith Macy Conference Center:
All guests: Reimbursements will be 75% of eligible travel expenses. Meals and gratuities (tips) are not included.
Overnight guests: Reimbursements will be $140/night for lodging. If you stay in a double room ($175/night), you will be reimbursed $140/night and be out of pocket for $35/night. If you stay in a single room ($275/night), you will still be reimbursed $140/night and be out of pocket for $135/night
Day guests: Reimbursements will be $80/day for day guest amenities ($99/day).

Global Initiatives for Building Membership
This three-day learning exchange will focus on membership recruitment and retention strategies that leverage Global Girl Scouting, including the series and travel pathways. Participants will develop capacity to offer global program opportunities for girls and build stronger ties with the worldwide network of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting. Sessions on Global Action, Global Advocacy and Global Liaison Volunteer Development and more will be offered. Back by popular demand, "The Global Immersion" session will bring you into the heart of one of New York City's most diverse neighborhoods for an afternoon of exploration and experiential learning.

Council and USA Girl Scouts Overseas volunteers and staff interested in growing membership and enhancing program through global initiatives.
