Global Exchange

The Global Exchange course, sponsored by the GSUSA Global Girl Scouting department, will bring together volunteers and staff from councils and USA Girl Scouts Overseas. The course's objective is to share tools and resources that develop and enhance skills to offer global opportunities for girls at various age levels through the Girl Scout Leadership experience. The course will include parallel sessions for newcomers, experienced staff and volunteers.

USA Girl Scouts Overseas volunteers will have the opportunity to learn new skills to enhance their work at their overseas locations. Council staff and volunteers in the program function will be inspired to deepen their program offerings to include globally focused opportunities. Council staff and volunteers in the membership function will discover ways to capitalize on global opportunities and programs to increase and retain membership.

Joint sessions will include content on: the World Association of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides (WAGGGS), Global action, advocacy and education resources, cross-cultural education tools and resources, taking action that has local and global linkages, partnering with WAGGGS member organizations ("twinning" and other approaches), destinations, and using technology to connect girls globally. A facilitated journey into New York City will allow participants to experience the cultural richness of one of NYC's most diverse boroughs.

Who Should Attend
Open to Girl Scout council staff and volunteers. All volunteers associated with USA Girl Scouts Overseas (USAGSO), including but not limited to global facilitators, overseas committee members, troop leaders, co-leaders and assistant leaders. This course is also the perfect opportunity for adults who will be relocating overseas and plan to be involved with USAGSO.
