Andes Trekking: Peru
Be amazed by the natural and cultural beauty of this region as you trek over high mountain passes, connect with local community members and visit the famous ruins of Machu Picchu.

The highlands of Peru are an ideal landscape to experience the majesty of the Inca Empire and to challenge yourself as a leader. Engage in meaningful cross-cultural exchange in the magical city of Cusco and the breathtaking Sacred Valley. Hike an alternative Inca Trail called the Lares Trek. Be inspired by the marvelous mountain vistas throughout the journey. The cherry on top of this adventure is the final stop: the famous citadel of Machu Picchu.

This 11-day expedition begins in Miami where you will meet your fellow travelers   You will then fly to the city of Cusco, the historic capital of the Inca Empire, where you will be welcomed with traditional coca tea. Spend the first 3 days getting familiar with the region by visiting a traditional weaving school, handicraft markets, Inca ruins and local schools. The next four days you’ll explore the Andes by foot. The Lares Trek is more remote than the classic Inca Trail, and offers insight into the real lives of the Andean farmer, dressed in their traditional brightly colored ponchos, and provides a stunning and challenging adventure. You’ll be joined by llamas, alpacas and a team of guides who all help carry gear so you only have to carry your day pack. During the trek, some days will be long and challenging and others will be shorter and easier.

Every day will be filled with good food, comfortable camp set-up and gorgeous views. The trek ends in the community of Lares, where you’ll soak your tired muscles in the natural hot springs. The last day of the expedition is spent at the UNESCO World Heritage Site and New Seven Wonders of the World, Machu Picchu. You’ll take the train to the ruins and spend the day exploring them before returning to Cusco for your last night. Group size will be between 15-25 girls. For travel, you can choose to either meet up with the group in Miami, FL or Lima, Peru.

You will learn, laugh, lead and live life fully… returning home ready to act. To complete your experience, you'll design a follow-up leadership project that takes your trip to a whole new level!
