CampHERO
Be a Hero for a day…for a week…for a lifetime!
Have you dreamed of being a hero? Do you want to know what it is like to save a life? This event is your chance to learn skills that may someday save a life. CampHERO partners girls with real world professional female firefighters, paramedics, police officer and dispatchers. Learn from them what it is like to do what they do every day. Picture It Experience living like a firefighter, learn to perform CPR, and how to put someone in handcuffs. Chase down a suspect on a foot pursuit, strap a victim to a backboard, and wrangle a gushing fire hose. Enjoy a week full of extraordinary experiences and real life stories. Spend your nights at one of our Wisconsin Girl Scout properties and your days at a fire training center. You will be introduced to careers in fire, police, EMS and dispatch. You will get hands-on experiences with actual protective services equipment, try to keep up with fitness training every morning, and learn skills including fingerprinting, immobilizing, extrication, and accident investigation. You'll end the week with a real life scenario where you put into action all of the skills that you have learned during this remarkable week. At night you will have a chance to hang out and do traditional camp activities like making s’mores and go canoeing. We’ll even take a night out and experience some of what Madison can offer with dinner and a show. Professional women representing fire, police, EMS and dispatch will be on hand at CampHERO to tell you first person stories and share what it is like being a woman in a traditionally male career path. Each of these women has a passion for what they do and are excited to share it with you. Map It Madison, Wisconsin Be It
