Job Hunt
Job Hunt

A job search can be hard work all by itself!  It can be tough to narrow down exactly what you want to do. Then you have to match that up with a job that’s open in your town or city. But don’t feel overwhelmed. There definitely are awesome jobs out there, ones that would be great for you—you just have to know where to look!

A good place to start is talking to family and friends. Maybe they know of an opening where they work themselves. Your school might be another great resource. Keep an eye out for postings on bulletin boards. Pop into the school guidance office for some suggestions. Or stop by the travel agent, or the veterinarian, or the bakery and ask if there’s a job available.

Before you start your search, you’ll need to make some decisions...

How many hours a week do I want to work?
How will I get to and from work? Do I need a job I can walk to?
Do I want to work on weekends? Or after school?

What's Your Job Personality?

What’s the main reason for getting a job? It’s pretty much the money. So when you’re looking for the right job, one big criteria is that you’ll earn enough from your salary, or combined salary and tips.

What’s enough? At the very least, it should cover the expenses in your weekly budget. And a bit extra to put in your savings account would be a real score.

So even if you love everything else about a job, if you’re not making as much as you need to, you may want to keep on looking.
