A resume tells a story—the story of you! Even if you haven’t had to create one yet, chances are the jobs you go after when you’re older will require one. Writing a resume is one of those times when it’s cool to brag about yourself. That’s because putting your skills and talents in the best light is the name of the game.
Resume writing is all about being organized. Arrange your information so that it’s easy to read—create separate sections for school activities, other jobs you’ve had, and your special skills, like knowing more than one language. And listing things in chronological order, usually with the most recent things first, helps your employer piece it all together.
Remember, a resume should also give anyone who reads it some insight into who you are, and why you would be a fab person to work with. Mentioning special hobbies, activities you enjoy, or things you’re great at, can help make your resume stand out.
And one last thing: Don’t forget to proofread. Twice.
