Budget It, Baby

A budget is a map of where your money comes from and where it goes.  It can be really helpful as it helps you track what happens to all those dollars and dimes.

Want to see what your budget looks like? OK, grab a pen and jot down any money that you earn or get in allowance. Then, keep a list of your expenses so you can add them up at the end of each week. Every time you buy a soda, a magazine, or catch a movie, write it down. Don’t forget to include that stylin’ new pair of jeans!

You’re in good shape if your “in” column is greater than your “out” column. It means you’re not spending more than you’ve got—which can be harder than it sounds!

A budget can be your best friend in finding the right balance and avoiding debt. Sure, it’s more effort than just spending until your money runs out—but this way, you won’t come up short when you really need some cash.
