San Diego, CA—Kintera® Inc. (NASDAQ: KNTA), a leading provider of software as a service to nonprofits, has been selected by Girl Scouts of the USA to help launch the organization's new Commit To A Girl national Web site. Girl Scouts of the USA is comprised of over 300 local councils, which assist nearly three million girls nationwide to develop the real-life skills and confidence needed to become leaders. To effectively unify the organization's first formal online fundraising efforts, Girl Scouts turned to Kintera® for help.

"Girl Scouting helps girls develop confidence, real-life skills, and the sense of citizenship needed to become the nation's leaders," said Kathy Cloninger, CEO of Girl Scouts of the USA. "There are still many more girls who could benefit from our flexible program, including girls struggling with tough issues such as peer pressure, low self-esteem, and conflict management. It's more important than ever to commit to girls, and the online campaign makes it simple to connect, give back, and make an impact on girls' lives today."

Added Cloninger, "Selecting Kintera as the technology provider for our Commit To A Girl program was a good fit because of their software's ease of use, and the tenacious support we have received from Kintera's staff."

Making a Difference

The three-year Commit To A Girl campaign will raise money to support girls in dealing with peer pressure and problems such as drugs, teen pregnancy, eating disorders, suicide, and more. Donations will help fund Girl Scouts' cutting-edge program that provides girls the skills they need to avoid unhealthy behaviors and make responsible decisions.

For the initiative, Kintera® provided Girl Scouts of the USA with a content management system (CMS) Web site built on the Kintera Sphere™ software platform, which provides an enhanced interactive experience for users as they access information on the challenges girls face nationwide.

The Web site also provides opportunities to support the organization's work in every zip code across the United States. Web visitors can choose to give securely online to a specific local Girl Scout council, or donate directly to Girl Scouts of the USA. They can also create their own Commit To A Girl page that can be customized to honor a loved one, contact old friends, celebrate a birthday, sign up a book club, reach out to coworkers or classmates, and even host a virtual fundraising party.

Girl Scout headquarters provided each local Girl Scout council with the Kintera® fundraising system. Additionally, Girl Scout administrators and managers received training from Kintera® to learn how to use this innovative fundraising technology to mobilize their councils for the united campaign.

"Kintera® is pleased to provide technology and training for a fundraising initiative the size and scope of the new Girl Scouts' Commit To A Girl online fundraising campaign," said Kintera's CEO Harry Gruber, M.D. "This is yet another illustration of the power of the Internet in bringing people together to raise money for an important cause. Girl Scouts plays such an integral role in helping girls develop the values, self-esteem, and confidence to succeed—that's why this campaign is so important."
