'The More You Know' Campaign Features GSUSA

NBC's PSAs to Begin December 16

New York, N.Y.—Girl Scouts of the USA will be featured during the 2006-'07 season of NBC's award-winning public service campaign, "The More You Know (TMYK)." With an overall theme of "Keeping Youth, Families and Communities in the Know," NBC selected self esteem as one of its focus issues. GSUSA's 800 number – 1 800 GSUSA 4 U – will be displayed during six different spots starting Saturday, December 16, and running in rotation with the other TMYK spots for the next year.

As part of its promotional efforts, NBC teamed up with CosmoGirl to run a contest that offered teens across the country an opportunity to write their own self-esteem message. The winner was former Girl Scout Angelique Jordan, 18, of Hephzibah, Georgia.

But don't stop with the sneak preview, tune in to "Weekend Today" for discussion of the overall campaign. Then, to catch the spirit of the holiday season, watch The NBC Movie of the Week –"It’s A Wonderful Life" at 8 p.m. EST Saturday night and see Mariska Hargitay, star of NBC's Law & Order SVU, read the contest-winning script.

In addition to Mariska, other NBC stars who will be addressing self-esteem throughout the coming year are Parminder Nagra of "ER," James Lesure of "Las Vegas," Molly Sims of "Las Vegas," and Donald Faison of "Scrubs."
