New York, N.Y. — More than 200 Girl Scouts from New York and New Jersey got to experience some Hollywood glamour at a special screenings of Kit Kittredge: An American Girl, where they were greeted by a surprise visit by Abigail Breslin.
The girls from Girl Scouts of Greater New York, Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore, Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson and Girl Scouts of Suffolk County packed into the AMC Theatres Empire 25 on 42nd Street to catch the movie screening premiere. While they waited with their gift bags, Girl Scouts of the USA's Vice President of Communications, Denise J. Pesich, warmed up the crowd, and unbeknownst to them was the fact that they would soon be face–to-face with movie star and newly honored Girl Scout Abigail Breslin.

"Kit Kittredge: An American Girl screening was not only a great way for the girls to connect with each other, but it also generated some memories that will last a lifetime," said Pesich. "We're thrilled to have Abigail Breslin as a Girl Scout and we love that her role of Kit is someone who is courageous and confident and makes the world a better place."
A little later in the day, around 50 girls from Girl Scouts of Greater New York were invited to walk the red carpet of the Ziegfeld theater and rub elbows with the stars of the film and enjoy the happenings of a real-life Hollywood-style movie premiere.

Two lucky girls, Rebecca, 10 from Greater New York and Emma, 13 from Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore, were selected to interview celebrities on the red carpet. As if chatting up celebrities wasn't enough of a rush, they were invited guests at the after-party held in the American Girl® Place, New York.
Abigail Breslin became a Girl Scout in April in Los Angeles, Calif., but as she is a New Yorker, her home council is Girl Scouts of Greater New York.
