It's Your World — Change It! Your Voice, Your World

It's Your Planet — Love It! Justice

  • Photography: Document environmental issues with your camera — a picture's worth a thousand words when you want to convince others to Take Action!
  • Reading: Ask a librarian to recommend books about people who worked for justice, then form a reading group to discuss them.

  • Ask your cookie customers what changes they'd
like to see in the community. Write their answers in
your "idea bank" for possible Take Action projects.
  • Think about using some of your cookie proceeds to
fund your journey Take Action project — or even
    your Gold Award project!
  • When you e-mail your customers to tell them their
cookies have arrived, add a few notes about your
Take Action or Gold Award project.

  • Go to the next level with your journey Take Action project and earn your Gold Award!
  • If you come up with several good ideas for your journey Take Action project but some seem "too big," add them to your idea list for your Gold Award.
  • Remember, the network you build might be able to help you with college, too!

It's Your World — Change It!

It's Your Planet — Love It! Justice

  • Talk about how you'd like to change the world as you and your friends do your favorite outdoor activity, whether it's biking, hiking, kayaking, or rock climbing.
  • Unplug while you're at camp and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of nature. It's a great way to kick-start your idealism!
  • Make a meal using a solar cooker.

It's Your World — Change It! Your Voice, Your World

  • Take flight! Visit a butterfly garden.
  • Tour a newspaper and find out how editors choose what letters to print. (Then send your own letter on a topic you care about.)
  • Go behind the scenes at a TV station to find out who chooses the stories that go on the air and how they are researched

It's Your Planet — Love It! Justice

  • Check out some destination trips — traveling the world is a great way to seek out ideas for justice.
  • Job shadow someone who works in an environmental field. (Think broadly — check out tips in your journey book.)
  • Visit a university. Find out ahead of time if you can check out some classes in environmental science, marine science or biology. Green career, anyone?!

It's Your World — Change It! Your Voice, Your World

  • Continue Juliette Gordon Low's friendship circle — write to a pen pal in another country.
  • Find out how Girl Scouts in past generations influenced society.
  • Organize a camping weekend for younger Girl Scouts. Teach them your favorite traditions — including great new traditions for loving the planet.

It's Your Planet — Love It! Justice

  • Join other Ambassadors (and invite some younger girls) for a sing-along that lifts up hope for justice!
  • Celebrate World Thinking Day by reflecting on how you and your friends could take action to make the world more just.
