The adult guide is your suitcase for the journey. It's packed with everything you need for a wonderful trip that will change girls' lives.

It's Your World — Change It! GIRLtopia

  • Tour a museum or art gallery, looking especially for paintings and sculptures by women.
  • Cheer on women athletes at a sporting event (maybe even your own school's track and field team)!
  • Go to a recording studio (the local college may donate time) and make a CD of your own GIRLtopia-themed songs.

It's Your Planet — Love It! Sow What?

  • Visit a farm to find out where its bounty goes.
  • Take a trip with other Girl Scouts (maybe to the Everglades or the Caribbean?) that lets you see agriculture in another part of the world.
  • Go shopping at a farmers' market with a chef who uses locally grown food.

It's Your World — Change It! GIRLtopia

  • Make S'mores around a campfire and share your dreams for the future.
  • Take journals or watercolor supplies on a hike. Sit in a beautiful spot and start creating your vision of the perfect world for girls!
  • Make some GIRLtopia rules for your weekend camping trip. Follow them, then talk about what you learned.

It's Your Planet — Love It! Sow What?

  • Have a cookout — grill fresh summer corn or whatever vegetable is in season.
  • When you're at Girl Scout camp, see how many edible foods (for both people and animals) you can spot.
  • Plant something! Get dirty! Enjoy!

  • Ask your cookie customers what changes they'd like to see in the community. Write their answers in your "idea bank" for possible Take Action projects.
  • Think about using some of your cookie proceeds to fund your journey trips and Take Action project—or even your Gold Award!
  • When you e-mail your customers to tell them their cookies have arrived, add a few notes about your Take Action or Gold Award project.

  • Go to the next level with your journey Take Action project and earn your Gold Award!
  • If you come up with several good ideas for your journey Take Action project but some seem "too big," add them to your idea list for your Gold Award.
  • Remember, the network you build might be able to help you with college, too!

It's Your World — Change It! GIRLtopia

  • The Play's the Thing: Write and perform a monologue that brings your idea of Girltopia to life.
  • Museum Discovery: Find artwork that could inspire people to Take Action on an issue.
  • Generations Hand in Hand: Talk with older women about their vision of GIRLtopia when they were young and how girls' lives have changed since then.

It's Your Planet — Love It! Sow What?

  • Desktop Publishing: Design a colorful dinner menu that includes fun facts about the food's origins.
  • Artistic Crafts: Make a sculpture
    or outdoor decoration with corn
    husks.
  • Games for Life: Create a game
    for Daisies or Brownies that
    highlights traditional foods from
    around the world.

It's Your World — Change It! GIRLtopia

  • Rewrite Girl Scout song lyrics to match your vision of GIRLtopia. Sing them loud!
  • Teach your favorite Girl Scout tradition to a younger Girl Scout. Ask her to keep it going!
  • Host a ceremony for new Girl Scouts to welcome them to the "GIRLtopia" of Girl Scouting!

It's Your Planet — Love It! Sow What?

  • Go camping, carrying only food that is grown or made locally.
  • Create SWAPs that show food grown in your area.
  • So, what have previous generations of Girl Scouts done about growing and preparing food — canning fresh veggies, perhaps? Try it out!
