The Arts

Girls see infinite possibilities—and participation in the arts enables them to express what they see. Girl Scouts encourages girls to view the world through the eyes of discovery by helping them develop their creativity, follow their instincts, and hone their communication skills. Whether they're painting a landscape, composing a song for a Creative Composing Try-It, telling stories, or putting the finishing touches on a sculpture for a Ceramics & Clay Badge, Girl Scouts open the world up for their interpretation. From photography to playwriting and acting, activities in the visual, performing, and language arts encourage girls to trust themselves and create whatever they dream up!

National Arts Initiative

Girl Scouts is designing new methods to respond to demands for arts programs. Because the introduction of creativity in all of its forms has such a comprehensive impact on the lives of young people, GSUSA is in the unique position to provide a setting where the arts can have their full effect, opening doors and building bridges for girls. By promoting creativity through the arts in an emotionally healthy and open environment, every girl has a chance to blossom.

STUDIO 2B Writer's Block

www.STUDIO 2B.org, the place for teens, is the online arm of STUDIO 2B, the way girls 11-17 participate in Girl Scouting. Girls can submit their original work to the Web site for review and possible online publication. The selected poems and stories can be read by all visitors to the site and girls can discuss their work with other members of their STUDIO 2B group.
