What Girls Say
What Girls Say brings to the fore the voices, concerns, and opinions of girls and only girls on various topics and issues.
This inaugural issue of What Girls Say is based on the results of an online survey developed by the GSRI, in conjunction with SmartyPants, a youth market research firm. Given in February 2008 to over 1,300 households in the U.S., a panel of 433 girls ages 8 to 17 of diverse backgrounds responded.
The findings reveal girls' personal concerns and resolutions for the New Year about relationships, health, and school as well as their thoughts on issues of gender, race and equality in this country. Advocacy, politics and leadership are also areas girls find important.
