History: The Gap Teams | Culture Print

Our Strategic Priority
Lead the transformation of our culture, which is a key component of the broader transformation of Girl Scouts.

Our Work
The core values of the Girl Scout culture are courage, honesty, fairness, respect, and diversity. To support these core values, the Culture Team is focused on developing a culture that is also:

  • Girl-centered
  • Agile
  • Innovative
  • Aligned
  • Accountable
Who We Are
Led jointly by Jaclyn Libowitz, Chief of Staff, and Mary Vitek, CEO, Girl Scout Council of San Jacinto, our team currently has six members and two national board champions.

Our Progress
We're organizing an Action Partners Conference Call to encourage a dialogue among CEOs who are "action partners" – those willing to embrace needed transformation in the work areas they influence and willing to take leadership in cultural change. We're also creating tools that councils and the national organization can use to support the transformation of our culture into one that is girl-centric, accountable, agile, innovative, and aligned.

Teamwork: Six teams set our evolution in motion by getting feedback from many of you and analyzing and identifying the changes that need to take place to bridge the “gap” between where Girl Scouts is today and where we want to be in the future. Five teams were responsible for implementing one of the strategic priorities; the sixth focused on ways to improve our culture.
