The Unique Girl Scout Experience
In January 2005, the Program Model and Pathways Gap Team was charged with creating a global program model that will make the core Girl Scout experience more consistent around the world, more relevant to girls' lives, and more accessible to all girls who want to participate in Girl Scouts.

Who We Are
Led jointly by Eileen Doyle, Vice President, Program Development, GSUSA, and Janet Barker, CEO, Girl Scouts of Glowing Embers Council, our team currently has four council CEOs and three national board champions.

Since that time, the Gap Team has been hard at work – conducting focus groups of girls and volunteers, consulting with external experts, gathering input and ideas from across the Movement, and developing initial recommendations.

While this continues to be a work in progress, the Gap Team is focused on developing a model that is: centered around personal growth and leadership development; focuses on building girls of confidence, courage, and character who make the world a better place; differentiates girls by age; and provides flexible pathways for volunteer participation.

Below you can page through more specific information about the proposed model:

Teamwork: Six teams set our evolution in motion by getting feedback from many of you and analyzing and identifying the changes that need to take place to bridge the “gap” between where Girl Scouts is today and where we want to be in the future. Five teams were responsible for implementing one of the strategic priorities; the sixth focused on ways to improve our culture.
