Thank you for being a volunteer for Girl Scouts
Volunteers are critical to making results happen for our girls every day. One of the most important parts of the Core Business Strategy has been our re-statement of the value and contribution of our volunteers. We all intend for the incredible work you have done to date to be expanded and reinforced to meet the needs of girls for decades to come.

We need your enthusiasm and involvement now more than ever as we work to ensure that Girl Scouts continues to be the leading voice for girls.

What the Core Business Strategy Means for You
The Volunteerism Gap Team received feedback from across our Movement to inform the work we will do together to further strengthen our volunteer model. In order to continue the highest level of programs and experiences for girls, we must develop a nimble, state-of-the art model of volunteerism that mobilizes a variety of volunteers committed to the Girl Scout mission. In meeting this strategic priority, we want Girl Scouts to become the place where volunteers will:

  • Join easily
  • Learn continuously
  • Serve in flexible ways
  • Embrace the Girl Scout mission
  • Feel appreciated and
  • Achieve specific outcomes with girls

The Volunteerism Gap Team is focused on designing a volunteer system that supports the Discovery and Leadership Model for girls.

Are there answers to all the questions you may now have about the Core Business Strategy? Perhaps not, but we are mobilizing the expertise from across Girl Scouts - including you - to develop those answers so that we continue to be the best personal leadership development program for girls ages 5-17.

Get Involved: Have Ideas to Share?
There are countless ways to be a part of the Movement's and the Core Business Strategy's success. Visit this site regularly to get the latest news and reports, and check the "Updates" section on the homepage to find out about upcoming events and opportunities.

Communication is a two-way street, and as we work to keep you informed on the issues and events that affect you and Girl Scouts, we hope that you will stay in touch, share your feedback and input, and recommend this site to others wishing to get involved. We want to know what's working and how we can improve, and we want to hear your questions. We also welcome submissions to the "Meet the Champions" section under "Updates," so please don't hesitate to tell us about ways you are using the Core Business Strategy to make positive changes around you. E-mail us at misc@girlscouts.org.

Looking Back at the History
Girl Scouts began to develop its Core Business Strategy in 2004, to ensure that this historic organization continues to be the best leadership experience for girls ages 5-17. READ MORE

Teamwork: Six teams set our evolution in motion by getting feedback from many of you and analyzing and identifying the changes that need to take place to bridge the “gap” between where Girl Scouts is today and where we want to be in the future. Five teams were responsible for implementing one of the strategic priorities; the sixth focused on ways to improve our culture.
