Girl Scouts of the USA is one of 145 member organizations of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). Membership in WAGGGS provides GSUSA members with opportunities for international friendship and understanding through many fun and educational activities outside the United States.

GSUSA members can:

  • Participate in international travel. By traveling to these events in other WAGGGS member countries, girls can learn about other cultures, make new friends, build leadership skills, and share ideas with women and girls from around the globe.

  • Visit the four world centers. Located in England, Switzerland, India, and Mexico, these centers, operated by WAGGGS, are wonderful places to learn about the cultures of Girl Scouts/Girl Guides in other countries.

  • Participate in World Thinking Day on February 22. On this day, all Girl Guides/Girl Scouts take time to think of each other and show their appreciation for being a part of a world movement.

  • Help promote global friendship and understanding at a national level through Girl Scouts of the USA's Juliette Low World Friendship Fund.

  • Gifts can now be made online through the Girl Scout donation Web site.

Girl Guide/Girl Scout organizations worldwide are generally connected by the same ideals and principles. The notion of forming an international movement started in the early 1900s, and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts was officially formed in 1928. Girl Scouts of the USA was one of the founding members of WAGGGS.
