The Annenberg Foundation

The Annenberg Foundation is collaborating with Girl Scouts of the USA to promote active participation in the arts. From the safe place Girl Scouting provides, girls can begin to explore their own capacity for creating and experiencing art.
Girls will be actively involved in planning the program activities, building on their own interests and talents. Whether they take photographs or assist with exhibits, write a poem or tell a story, dance on stage or build a set, form a drumming ensemble or mix a recording, they will be exploring a variety of creative outlets as possible career options and as tools for self discovery. As a larger and more vividly complex world unfolds for each girl, she will choose the pursuits that fit her own abilities and inclinations best and carry them into a productive adulthood.
The introduction of the creative process in all of its forms can have a comprehensive impact on the lives of young people and adolescents. GSUSA is committed to providing a setting to nurture this process and thereby open doors and build bridges for its girl members. By promoting knowledge and appreciation of the arts and the creative process in an emotionally healthy and open environment, Girl Scouts will offer every girl the opportunity to reach her fullest potential.
The Annenberg Foundation works to enhance education, culture, the arts, and community and civic life in our nation. The work of the Annenberg Foundation is guided by the vision and democratic ideals of its founder, Ambassador Walter H. Annenberg. The Annenberg Foundation exists to advance the public well-being through improved communication, focusing on public education. As the principal means of achieving its goal, the Foundation encourages the development of more effective ways to share ideas and knowledge.
