Jessie Ball duPont Fund

The Jessie Ball duPont Fund, in collaboration with Girl Scouts of the USA, supports adult training and services to girls. Their most recent grant, in support of the booklet and video From Sidewalks to Treetops: The Amateur's Guide to Exploring Nature in Your Neighborhood, increases girls' environmental awareness as well as their interest in science careers in any setting, including urban communities. The Jessie Ball duPont Fund's trustees and staff strive to act with compassion, work for justice, and champion the rights of all people to share in the wealth and health of our nation.
The Girl Scouts' From Sidewalks to Treetops program trains adults to conduct nature, wildlife, and environmental education activities in their own neighborhoods—even if they live in a city. With materials provided in English and Spanish, a closed-captioned video, and ideas for adapting activities for different audiences, From Sidewalks to Treetops meets the needs of girls and adults with disabilities, Spanish-speakers, and those from underserved urban or rural areas.
Through the Jessie Ball duPont Fund's support of the Edith Macy Scholarship Endowment Fund, Girl Scout volunteers and staff have the opportunity to travel from across the country and around the world to attend Girl Scouts' own "university in the woods" at the Edith Macy Conference Center and John J. Creedon Education Center in Briarcliff Manor, New York.
The Edith Macy Conference Center complex is the site of skill enhancement courses for Girl Scout national and local staff and volunteers. Participants learn job-training skills or further their professional development at high-level management programs. Participants return with new skills and knowledge and a renewed commitment to their work. Through the support of the Jessie Ball duPont Fund, scholarships enable participants to better serve the Girl Scout population at home and abroad.
