NFL Charities funded Girl Scouts of the USA to produce and promote Fit&Fun, a recreational sports and fitness project aimed at boosting girls' interest and participation in sports and encouraging them to develop positive lifelong health and fitness habits. NFL Charities provides a systematic way for scholastic sports to help transform the lives of young people for the better.

Fit&Fun is a component of the Girl Scouts' GirlSportsSM initiative, a national recreational sports and fitness project aimed at providing girls, ages 8 to 11, with the skills necessary to maximize their success in sports. GirlSports utilizes a variety of activities that focus on fair play, cooperation and skill progression. Current studies show that childhood obesity is at an all-time high, and also indicate that physical inactivity is more common among women and girls than among men and boys. Girls involved in the GirlSports initiative are encouraged to participate in sports and to incorporate health and fitness activities into their lives. Girl Scout volunteers lead the activities and act as mentors for girls throughout the process. Through Fit&Fun, girls learn team-building and fitness skills through games and activities, while building competence and confidence.

NFL Charities was founded in 1973 by the member clubs of the National Football League to enable the teams to collectively support charitable and worthwhile causes on a national level.
