Corporation for National and Community Service

In 2000, the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) granted Girl Scouts of the USA $5 million to develop a comprehensive violence intervention initiative called P.A.V.E. the Way (Project Anti-Violence Education). The grant allowed GSUSA provide 37 Girl Scout councils with grants of their own to combat violence through myriad approaches: conflict resolution training, the promotion of inter-cultural understanding, anti-bullying campaigns, community service, arts projects, and even fencing!

Funds from CNCS were also utilized to produce a series of booklets called Staying Safe, which provides girls ages 6 to 11 with tips for maintaining their personal safety at home, at school, in their neighborhoods, and on the Internet.
