Girl Scouts of the USA joins the Department of Health and Human Services as a partner of the STOP.THINK.CONNECT National Network

August 22, 2012 — During the Atlanta Cyber Tour, the Department of Health and Human Services announced that the Girl Scouts of the USA will join the STOP.THINK.CONNECT. National Network, a partnership that will promote cyber awareness to youth across the country.

Girl Scouts joins the Network with a unique ability to reach millions of girls in councils across the country and develop cyber awareness and safer online practices amongst its members. Anna Maria Chávez, Chief Executive Officer of the Girl Scouts notes, "This collaboration between Girl Scouts and The U.S. Department of Homeland Security will empower girls to become leaders and advocates for the safe and responsible use of technology. We know that girls are online. As adults, it is our responsibility to create an environment that encourages girls to establish healthy online habits."
