The Jessie Ball duPont Fund, in collaboration with the Girl Scouts of the USA, is helping girls learn the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) in conserving the environment. The duPont Fund's $130,000 commitment to the Rural Community Environmental Science and Leadership Program ensures that girls in Florida and the Delmarva Peninsula have the opportunity to benefit from out-of-school learning experiences in the environmental sciences and grow as leaders in their local communities.
The duPont Fund is a longtime supporter of the Girl Scouts, investing in a variety of initiatives from environmental programs and training for adults. Through the Jessie Ball duPont Fund's support of the Edith Macy Scholarship Endowment Fund, Girl Scout volunteers and staff have the opportunity to travel from across the country and around the world to attend Girl Scouts' own "university in the woods" at the Edith Macy Conference Center and John J. Creedon Education Center in Briarcliff Manor, New York.
The Edith Macy Conference Center complex is the site of skill enhancement courses for Girl Scout national and local staff and volunteers. Participants learn job-training skills or further their professional development at high-level management programs. Participants return with new skills and knowledge and a renewed commitment to their work. Through the support of the Jessie Ball duPont Fund, scholarships enable participants to better serve the Girl Scout population at home and abroad.
The Jessie Ball duPont Fund works to expand access and create opportunity by investing in people, organizations and communities that were important to Jessie Ball duPont. For more information, please visit: www.dupontfund.org.
