G.I.R.L. Agenda Pledge FAQ
Q: How do I take the G.I.R.L. Agenda pledge?
A: Participation is easy! Visit www.girlscouts.org/GIRLAgendaPledge and click “Upload image” to get started. Upload a snazzy photo of your troop, take the pledge, and share how your troop is advancing the G.I.R.L. Agenda. That’s it!
Q: How will winners be selected?
A: On November 16, 2017, 604 winners (four grand prize winners and 600 winners) will be notified via an email sent from firstname.lastname@example.org. They will have three business days to accept their prize.
Q: What is the prize?
A: Four randomly selected grand prize winners will have their troop’s story shared on GSUSA’s Facebook page on Thanksgiving Day and receive a free limited-edition G.I.R.L. Agenda patch. An additional 600 randomly selected winners will receive the patch only. For both types of winners, patches are limited to 15 per troop. Patches will be distributed before March 1, 2018.
Q: Can the patch be purchased after the pledge is complete?
A: Because the G.I.R.L. Agenda patch is a limited edition, GSUSA will not offer it in the Girl Scout Shop at this time.
Q: Why should I add more girls to my troop?
A: When you recruit more girls, you reinvigorate your troop with new ideas and potential and give more girls the opportunity to unleash their inner G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ to accomplish amazing things. That’s more unstoppable change-makers and more futures superpowered!
Q: Will I be provided with resources to help me recruit a new member to my troop?
A: You bet! Once you complete the pledge, you will receive an email confirmation providing resources on how to get started recruiting new girls. Plus, if you give permission, your council will be able to contact you to provide even more resources.
Q: What is the G.I.R.L. Agenda?
A: The G.I.R.L. Agenda Powered by Girl Scouts is a nonpartisan initiative to inspire, prepare, and mobilize girls and those who care about them to lead positive change through civic action. Civic action is all about working to make a difference for the common good—something Girl Scouts do each and every day! To learn more about the G.I.R.L. Agenda, and for tips on how to lead positive change through civic action, visit www.GIRLagenda.org.
Q: How can troops advance the G.I.R.L. Agenda?
A: There are many ways troops can bring positive change through civic action. From advocating for change in their communities to supporting causes important to them, all troops and every G.I.R.L. have the power to make a difference! For tips and inspiration, visit www.GIRLagenda.org.
Q: Can I take the pledge without sharing my troop’s story?
A: Of course! Sharing how your troop is advancing the G.I.R.L. Agenda is optional. However, if you choose not to share your troop’s story, you will not qualify for the grand prize (you will still be entered to win the limited-edition G.I.R.L. Agenda patch for your troop).
Q: Will my troop be disqualified if I’m unable to add a new member by March 1, 2018?
A: Of course not! This pledge is based completely on the Girl Scout honor system. We know you will do your best to recruit more Girl Scouts.
Q: I already added a new troop member before the pledge was announced. Does this count?
A: Yep! Thanks for opening your troop to a new G.I.R.L. and introducing her to the power of Girl Scouting!
Q: My troop formed this year and is still getting up-to-speed—can it still participate?
A: As far as we’re concerned, you just added multiple new G.I.R.L.s to your troop, so yes, you can participate in the G.I.R.L. Agenda pledge.
