Green and White Mountains Summer Bucket List: July 14-25, 2027

Hike, splash, climb, and camp your way across the Green and White Mountains of Vermont and New Hampshire. Join Girl Scouts from across the nation to experience an adrenaline packed 12-day trip that will take you from sprawling cave systems to scenic peaks, from the sandy coastline of the Atlantic to the rocky shores of Lake Champlain, and so much in between!

About the Trip

Hike, splash, climb, and camp your way across the Green Mountains of Vermont and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Join Girl Scouts from across the nation to experience an adrenaline packed 12-day trip combining activities that will challenge and inspire you.

Jump into New Hampshire's 18 miles of coastline (the shortest in the US, but no less beautiful!) with a Whale Watch in Rye, followed by an exploration of the seacoast and downtown Portsmouth. From there, adventure further into New Hampshire, choosing between Water Country or Clark's Bears, a cave or gorge exploration, and many other sightseeing and exploration options for your ultimate summer road trip. Before long, you'll find yourself whitewater rafting in the north of the state and searching for moose by night.

After soaking in much of what NH has to offer, you'll cross over into Vermont, where you'll get to experience hiking in the Green Mountains, ziplining at an adventure park, sailing on Lake Champlain, and so much more. You'll also be able to stop in at the iconic Ben & Jerry's Factory for a tour of the facilities, the "flavor graveyard," and, of course, a scoop of ice cream! In fact, ice cream will take center stage in VT, as you'll also get to stop at a local shop for one of the state's famous "Maple Creemees!"

Girls will stay in a variety of accommodations, including hotels, campgrounds, and some nights at GSGWM's Camp Seawood in Portsmouth, NH and Camp Farnsworth in Thetford, VT.

Who Should Apply?

• Age: Girl Scouts entering grades 9–12 at the time of the trip

• Interests: Outdoor adventure, hiking, wildlife, water sports, and exploring new places.

• Requirements: Some hiking experience preferred. Swimming proficiency preferred, a swim test will be required to be submitted prior to the trip. Camping experience or willingness to camp required - must be ok sharing close living quarters with a group of other girls. Open-minded and ready to try new things, including activities such as hiking, ziplining, sailing, whitewater rafting, and other high adventure excursions. Must be willing and able to spend up to 1.5 hours in a car at a time (driving time will be minimized as much as possible, but this trip inherently covers a large swath of land!)

• Equipment: Packing list will be provided after acceptance. Girl Scouts will need their own hiking boots, sleeping bags, and sleeping pads. Other adventure gear will be provided as needed.

• Ignite Your Passion! This trip is great for Girl Scouts who love outdoor adventure, mountain exploration, and checking exciting experiences off their summer bucket list.

The Cost

Total value of the experience: $2,100

Thanks to generous Girl Scout donors, we are excited to share that each participant accepted to this trip will receive a 20% discount, reducing the cost by $420 No extra steps needed — the grant is automatically applied once you're accepted!

You pay: $1,680

Deposit will be due upon acceptance.

The trip application includes an opportunity to apply for additional financial aid. If you are accepted to the trip, you will be informed of any financial aid awarded at the same time.
